People who have driving phobia or driving anxiety may also suffer from conditions like depression and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
WebMD describes PTSD as “a serious condition that can develop after a person has experienced or witnessed a traumatic or terrifying event.” For the brave people who have gone to war, PTSD can be a major issue.
It seems that driving anxiety has become another problem for returning veterans.
Veterans who have been trained to pay attention to detail and drive in emergency situations may have trouble adjusting to everyday driving situations. They can become distracted by perceived threats while on the road or grow panicked behind the wheel.
In the future, psychology specialists may need to develop a way to treat people with combined PTSD and driving fear.
