Cell phones have changed the way we do just about everything: banking, shopping, and communicating in general. Unfortunately, society’s increasing reliance on cell phones has caused quite a bit of harm.
Texting while driving is a highly dangerous and surprisingly common habit. People just can’t seem to go for more than a few minutes without checking their phone. They want to know what so-and-so’s status update says, they need to text their friend to say they’re almost there, or they may just want to make sure they’re driving in the right direction.
According to a new study, these behaviors may be indicative of an anxiety disorder. People suffering from high levels of stress and anxiety may feel compelled to use their phones in an unhealthy manner. They feel unable to stop checking their phone, even when it puts them at risk. This shows addictive behavior with an underlying emotional cause.
